The Twentieth Year: A Memoir of Miscarriage

When Maureen Pollard was ready to become a parent, she had never heard anyone talk about pregnancy loss. Her first pregnancy ended in miscarriage in the first trimester, shocking her and disrupting her neatly laid plans to build a family with her partner. Their journey to parenthood would involve two more early losses, and then a bouncing baby boy would enter their lives. Ready to try again, Maureen was sure they had solved their fertility problems. Not so. She experienced three more early miscarriages, including the loss of a twin pregnancy, before the safe arrival of three lovely daughters satisfied their desire to have four living children.
